João Grama was born in Lisbon, in 1975. He attended the course of Advanced Photography Studies at Ar.Co, in Lisbon (2005-08). The recipient of a scholarship attributed by the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, he is currently enrolled in the Meisterschülerstudium program at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, in Leipzig, Germany. In 2010, he was nominated for the European Photo Awards by this same foundation. Among other places, he presented his work at the Centre Calouste Gulbenkian, in Paris, and at the Deichtorhallen Kunst und Fotografie, Hamburg, both in 2012. In this same year, he presented his solo show Ropes at the Espaço Arte Tranquilidade. In 2009 he was nominated for the prize Anteciparte, and participated in the group show at the Museu do Oriente, Lisboa.
