Tension & Conflict. Art in video after 2008

“The projects presented in Tension & Conflict show a wide array of links between all visual languages stemming from the general use of video in contemporary popular communication – from music videos to documentaries, from narrative fiction to attempts at visual experimentation in various social media and platforms.” This diversity, described by Pedro Gadanho (co-curator of the exhibitions, along with Luísa Santos), is clearly represented in the exhibition catalogue, not only through the presentation of the works by the 22 artists gathered in the exhibition, but also in the original essays by the two curators as well as guest authors Michaela Crimmin and Isabel Capeloa Gil.
