The 2003 EDP New Artists Award exhibition was curated by João Fernandes, João Pinharanda and Nuno Faria, and it took place in the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art, between 22 November 2003 and 4 January 2004.
Nine young artists participated in this exhibition. Carlos Bunga was elected winner by the international jury that also awarded Maria Lusitano with an honorable mention.
Biography
Carlos Bunga was born in 1976, in Porto. In 2003, he graduated from Visual Arts at ESAD, in Caldas da Rainha. Author of several interventions in public spaces in Caldas da Rainha, he took part in the collective exhibitions of Jovens Criadores in Coimbra and Porto. For his installations, he often uses materials such as cardboard, tape and plastic ink, combining elements of architecture, sculpture and painting.
