Sérgio Figueiredo, who has led EDP Foundation since March 2007, will leave his role at the end of this year. His departure from EDP Foundation and his role as board member of EDP Production, comes from the offer of a new professional challenge. The manager will take on the role of Information Director at TVI, the TV channel owned by Media Capital.
Throughout the last seven years, Sérgio Figueiredo has taken on the mission of positioning EDP Foundation as an institution which contributes to consolidating the values and sustainability strategy of the EDP Group. EDP Foundation is currently one of the main social investors in Portugal, working in partnership with over 250 other institutions.
It is also one of the most important arts patron, supporting entities of reference – such as the National Ballet Company, the Serralves Foundation and Casa da Música, among others –, promoting initiatives which celebrate national artists with prominent careers and new talents in contemporary art. In 2013 alone, EDP Foundation produced and supported 28 exhibitions which received over 500 thousand visitors.
The Electricity Museum also became one of the most visited in the whole country, going from 67.7 thousand visitors in 2007 to over 230 thousand in 2014.
“Being a part of building a more cohesive and progressive society implies doing anything but the obvious. Today, EDP Foundation is a clear vehicle for change. It has been a privilege to take an active role in this great project”, says Sérgio Figueiredo.
