The EDP Foundation is located in an area of 38 thousand square meters on the north bank of Tejo River, in the historic area of Belém. Here, the iconic power station dating back to the early 20th century and the new building maat (Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology), designed by London studio Amanda Levete Architects, coexist and offer a diverse cultural programme. The Tejo Power Station has been modernised, maintaining its focus on science and energy but continuing to host temporary exhibitions of contemporary art in its four galleries. The new building also includes four exhibition spaces, totalling approximately three thousand square meters.
The two buildings - maat and Tejo Power Station - are connected since October 2016 by a garden designed by landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic, offering an outstanding leisure space, with free access, along Lisbon’s riverfront.
